How Deletion Echo Works

The game generates eight fair binary symbols (0 or 1). To score, the game automatically evaluates deleting each of the seven adjacent two-symbol blocks from the eight-symbol word. This produces seven possible six-symbol results.

The raw score is the number of unordered pairs of deletion positions that yield identical six-symbol results. For example, if deleting positions 1 and 3 both result in the word '000000', that pair counts toward the score.

  • Zero scores: Powers one, two, and three do not alter which raw scores are zero. Words with no identical outcomes score zero regardless of the selected mode.
  • Max raw score: The maximum possible raw score is 21.

Score Modes and Payouts

There are three separately normalized score modes. Each is normalized over all 256 equally likely eight-symbol words to achieve a 96% expected gross return.

ModePowerExact Mean

Score Squared239.609375
Score Cubed3440.203125

Gross Payout Formula:

Gross = 0.96 × captured whole stake × raw^(selected mode + 1) / mean[selected mode]

The expected gross return is 96%. This is not a guaranteed net profit for any session.

Controls and Auto-Play

  • One whole captured stake: Each round uses one whole captured stake. There are no independent row shares.
  • Auto10: Queues at most ten captured draws.
  • Stop: Cancels future draws while the current one settles. It does not stop the current draw early.
  • Settlement: The normal animation lasts about 480ms; reduced-motion settings may show settlement immediately.
  • Locked Controls: Stake, mode, and refill are locked through active settlement and the auto queue. Sound remains available.

Wallet and Persistence

  • Initial Balance: 1000 virtual coins.
  • Manual Restore: When idle and balance is below 10, manual restore sets the balance to exactly 1000.
  • Fractional Carry: Persists across settlement, refill, and reload.
  • Reload: Ends an unfinished draw without refund or resume. Settled balance persists locally, including zero.

Mathematical Evidence

Simulation measurements support the exact expected values but are not the mathematical payout law.

Privacy and Storage

  • Storage: The demo uses browser localStorage for settled balance and fractional carry. This does not establish anonymity or exclude other processing.
  • Third Parties: The template declares a Google Fonts stylesheet. Actual browser request capture is pending; this is not a claim that other requests or processing are absent.
  • Account/Payment: There is no demo account flow or payment flow. Virtual coins have no cash value.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Score, Score Squared, and Score Cubed?

They are three separately normalized modes that use the raw score raised to powers 1, 2, or 3, respectively. Each mode is normalized over all 256 equally likely words to 96% expected gross return. A larger power increases variance but does not change which words score zero.

How does the manual restore work?

When the balance is idle and below 10, you can manually restore it. This sets the balance to exactly 1000 and preserves fractional carry. It is not an automatic replenishment.

Does stopping cancel the current round?

No. Stop cancels future draws in the queue while the current draw settles. It does not provide an early bank or refund for the current round.
